Born from curiosity and a love of data.

Origins

The Agency Loop was officially born in 2022, but the idea formed two years before. Having recently exited my own agency, I was using my time to explore this “new AI thing” that seemed to be getting traction. I’d pitched an idea for a talk at BrightonSEO to introduce industry people to generative AI and I was keen to have a strong element of data in the talk.

Part of that data was my first survey of agency leaders. Around 60 agencies responded, the insights were fascinating the the seed of The Agency Loop was planted.

Fast-forward two years and my early retirement has turned into a new business supporting agency founders as an Agency Advisor, Coach and Non-exec. Keen to base my support on informed insights, I turned my endless curiosity into an initiative to input for insights.

The initiative is free. The data collected is treated as confidential and is not sold or shared beyond the aggregated data and anonymised insights that I share with participant.

The Agency Loop is operated entirely my Me, Mat Bennett. I’m an exited agency founder now working as an Agency Advisor. Officially it is owned by Geosop Ltd, my trading company.

The number of agencies participating continues to slowly grow as the word spread and participation numbers vary month to month. At last count the member list was over 110 contributing agencies.

Surveys Per Year

Surveys currently run on alternate months. Surveys are sent out one month, with the results shared in two separate packets over the two month cycle. I hope to return to a monthly cycle when time allows.
